Foodie Babies

A health and nutrition blog. Rachel's children have nut, soy, and dairy allergies. One of them is currently suffering from leaky gut syndrome. Chrissy's child and husband have celiac disease. Rachelle had gestational diabetes and was able to reverse it. Because of that, she has been driven to learn the healthiest way to live. We are discussing food nutrition and allergies here.

Recipes welcome

Last night Jason said (and I quote) "I guess we need to change and start watching Emily's diet" FINALLY! Now I will have his support. Of course, that comment was followed up with, "I hate to do that, 'cause it effects everyone and everything around her." But, honestly, if it helps her to be healthy, I don't really care if other people are a little put out! I really only care that she's happy and comfortable. (Was that rude??)
Becca, you'll be glad to hear that if needed I will try a gluten free diet... but for now we're just going to cut all her allergens and start from there.
So.... any recipes without chocolate, dairy, soy, eggs, tomatoes, apples, oranges, chicken, pork, celery... I think that's it...?? Please share!
And, yes, we are still doing the yeast treatment... but it's not going very smoothly. So any veggie only recipes that I could use in the next two weeks would be very welcome! Thanks!

Guacamole. Mash up avocados, squeeze in a good amount of lime, add some salt (and cumin, if you have it) - a delicious, nutritious snack. Give it to her with corn tortillas.

Maybe smoothies (with almond, rice, or hemp milk) - load them up with bananas and strawberries and whatever.

Veggie tacos. Black beans, brown rice, and any veggies you want to cook up (peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, corn, kale, onions...). Add cumin and chili powder. Of course, the base is tomato sauce, but you could do it without that.

Also, I don't know if you've thought about it, but if she does have celiac and you took her off gluten, that might solve some of her other food sensitivities. Of course, it might not. But taking a kid off gluten for a while would be easier than taking her off ALL those other things, so it might be worth it just to try it out and see.

Can she eat beans? My little kids will eat homemade hummas by the spoonful.
    Hummas:
    1 can garbanzo beans
    desired amount of granulated garlic
desired amount of onion powder or flakes
    1-2 TB olive oil
    1-2 TB soy sauce
sqeeze in 1/2 lemon or lime
puree and eat plain or dip some carrot/celery sticks in it.

My little guy will also eat cherry tomatoes. One of my kids love sliced cucumber with italian dressing on it. See if she'll eat veeggi babyfood.

I would also recommend giving her the tincture of Black Walnut and Pau De Arco if you just can't get her to drink enough tea. Sometimes you have to change the plan a tad to meet the circumstances!
    Good Luck,
    Deanna Welch

I know she can't eat soy - Spencer makes THE. BEST. HUMMUS. EVER. Just garbanzos, olive oil, garlic (fresh), lemon/lemon juice, and possibly some spices? - give him a call for the recipe. Seriously, it's incredible.

Raych you need to read these books. Just get them from your library or if you promise to use them I will buy them for you.
I promise you that once you start eating this way you won't crave the processed foods. You will end up loving the way you eat.
